Holiday rental near Le Touquet: the elegance, 30 minutes away — without the prices
Aqualud, the covered market, villas in the forest and a vast beach: Le Touquet by day, and in the evening a terrace facing the Channel for 2-3 times less than resort prices.

Le Touquet-Paris-Plage is the Opal Coast's most elegant — and most expensive — resort: expect €150-300 a night in season, when you can find anything at all. Our guests' smart solution: sleep facing the sea in Le Portel, 30 minutes up the coast, for 2-3 times less, and visit Le Touquet for the day.
You win twice: on budget, and on variety — from Le Portel, Le Touquet is just one of your week's destinations, with Nausicaá, the Two Capes and Boulogne in the other direction.
Things to do in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage
A typical day: morning on the vast sandy beach and its promenade (children's beach clubs, the iconic white cabins), lunch around the listed covered market (on Saturdays, one of the finest markets in northern France), afternoon cycling the forest avenues between listed Anglo-Norman villas — the town was built inside a forest planted in the 19th century.
With children, add Aqualud (the seafront water park) or the riding centre; for adults, two golf courses, the Barrière casino and the boutiques of Rue Saint-Jean. And if the Canche bay is at low tide, look out for harbour seals from the Touquet point.
Why stay in Le Portel to visit Le Touquet-Paris-Plage
Le Portel enjoys a rare central position on the Opal Coast: right next to Boulogne-sur-Mer and the Nausicaá aquarium, halfway between the Two Capes Grand Site to the north and Le Touquet to the south. From our mobile homes on the clifftop of Le Phare d'Opale campsite, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage is a 30-minute drive — and when you return, you get the quiet of a gated campsite, Le Portel beach a few hundred metres away and the sunset over the Channel from your own terrace.
Staying in Le Portel rather than at the destination itself is also a matter of budget and availability: accommodation at the tourist hotspots is noticeably pricier and fills up early in the season, while from here you can reach every destination on the coast without moving base. Le Portel is also ideally placed for British visitors: 35 minutes from the Eurotunnel terminal at Coquelles and 40 minutes from the Calais ferries.
